Kindergarten

This is an exciting time of year for our kindergarten class as our students are beginning to read in their readers. Coming back from our winter break the children seem well rested and ready to take on new challenges. It's so rewarding to hear them sound out words and put sentences together. One can almost see their thoughts as they mouth the sounds and pronounce the words.

In Social Studies we are reading about new countries and some of the things children in other countries do. So far we have touched on England, The Netherlands, Italy, Mexico, Peru and Israel. We will finish this unit with Kenya, China and Australia. The children love to look at the maps and talk about different places they have visited.

In numbers, we are beginning to add and subtract and to learn how to write number problems. We have learned the value of dimes and pennies and will soon be studying nickels. We can put our knowledge into action when we go shopping for toys in our pretend room store.

God is good and we enjoy studying about the life of Christ during our chapel times. The children are still memorizing bible verses and learning some doctrinal truths with studies about: salvation, sin, heaven, redemption, healing and prayer. Every day we pray for each other and for the children's concerns as they are requested. Two times a week the children act out bible stories with Mrs. McBride during chapel time.

Our times in kindergarten are very rewarding this winter quarter of study as we begin to apply what we have been learning.
